My morning was just awful. I put off my geography presentation until the last minute, like I always do, and I frantically threw a PowerPoint together and ran out the door for class. Running late. As usual. (Sidenote: I didn’t used to be late to everything. This nifty little habit developed this semester… I am in the process of turning things around.) When I got to campus, I power walked through crowds of freshman hipsters blowing secondhand smoke into my face. While I made my way through the sea of students, I decided to open the email I had sent myself that morning to review my presentation notes. I opened the email and realized I had epically failed… I didn’t attach the PowerPoint. There was no time to go home and resend it. By the time I got back to school class would be nearly over. I called James at work and asked him to run home and email it to me. I yelled at him to hurry the entire time he drove home because I was angry at myself for such a stupid mistake. He remained calm and completely tolerant of my barking(typical James,) and told me that the job was done. I ended up acing that presentation, but I felt bad for yelling at my husband the entire time he did ME a favor. There are cookies baking in the oven for him as I type. So that was my morning. Oh yeah, and I missed traffic court. Wooo.
SO I was in desperate need of a pick-me-up when someone knocked on my door. It was the mailman and I had a package! A real genuine package! I was excited because I never get anything in the mail but bills and the Ensign, so I ripped it open and examined its contents. It was from my best friend Karen, and she had filled it with awesome stuff for my birthday, which is two days from now. Here is a picture of all of the awesomeness:
This all looks random, right? It really isn't! I got excited every time I pulled an item out of the box.
The picture- perfect because it is my favorite picture of Karen and I. We have a history of not so great photographs, believe me. They are normally either really good of me or really good of her, never mutually flattering. But this one!!! This one is just marvelous. We look skinny and tan and pretty. It's my favorite.
Glee notebooks- who doesn't love Glee?! Well Karen didn't until I forced her to watch an episode with me. Now she's addicted ;)
Stuffed hippo- Did you know that hippos are my absolute favorite animal? They are right up there with grizzly bears, elephants, and toucans for me. She included the hippo in the package because she knows they are my fave... and possibly because it's a baby toy. Regardless, he will be put to good use!
Chef pot holders and a red oven mitt- I have a chef kitchen and it is easily my favorite room in the house. It's full of chef canisters and a chef cookie jar and a chef clock. All of my appliances are red, which explains the red oven mitt. I didn't own any pot holders before now so I am really excited she threw those in there!
Disney Princess Magic Towels- I am obsessed with all things Disney. Enough said.
Angry Birds stickers- attached to these was a note that said, "For James. Miss you!!!" James is addicted to that game. He has beat it 3 times, and he has been known to fall asleep with his iPod in his hand.
My birthday package made my day so much better.
THANK YOU, KAREN ELIZABETH WALSH, FOR MY BIRTHDAY PRESENTS!!!
